If you going to repartition, than you always have to flash youre firmware.
It wil wipe everything on the partition.

Don't know if recoveries read and operate with pit files. Backup and try, but I think there's no way of reverting back without flashing official FW. Why is this a big deal for you anyway? When using pit all the partitions get reformatted so there's no way of saving the data on them (unless you backup first). Flash custom recovery after and restore the backup.

Launching apps with Nova Launcher Prime on my Samsung Galaxy S III that is running Archidroid ROM with Archi Kernel customized by Xposed Framework modules and backed up with Phliz advanced CWM recovery.
