You need to install busybox seperately, but it works!
ewdi,

I'm willing to risk it if you wouldn't mind chopping what I think I understand the procedure to be.

1. boot to download mode, connect via usb to pc
2. launch Odin, flash CWM Recovery (per normal procedure)
3. flash the Boot_rw_su.tar.md5
4. if success (PASS) this will now auto-boot to CWM recovery?
5. if in CWM, flash the setuid_wrapper_signed.zip
6. else, attempt to manually boot to CWM recovery, do #5
7. Normal boot should now have SU app? Now root behavior as expected.

Thanks much

If you can paste it here I can translate it. Just got a Docomo S3 myself, though I am going to wait a bit before rooting (previously had a HTC Desire and ran quite a few roms on it). My working Japanese vocabulary doesn't normally run to rooting, so translations will start rough and get better as I go.

Sorry just got back home, saifu doesn't work! WARNING, it doesnt work! But there seems to be a better way of rooting to get it to work on this thread

UPDATE: JUST BRICKED MY WIFE'S PHONE WITH 2ND METHOD.

UPDATE2 : Reflashed stocked and redo it again with step 2, it works. Not sure what went wrong the first time.

HERE IS STEP BY STEP:

1. Boot into Download Mode (Vol Down + Home + Power)
2. Make sure you have latest Kies and rebooted your Windows
3. Flash the CMW Recovery for SC-06D http://www.mediafire.com/?lvj9dz37wle2wee
4. Using CMW flash the SU
and you are done (optionally you can flash the stock recovery - link above)

Busybox arent installed by default, so you need to grab it yourself from play.

Default Root

Im going to try the root later on after work. Off the topic question? Is anyone having terrible signal service like I am? Cell Standby is usualy between 30-40% of battery. I started to use easy battery app to try and control the usage of 3g and wifi. Any suggestions?

Default Success!

ewdi,
root success achieved here too! Thanks to you for extracting the necessary information from logsoku. I modified your procedures a bit.

Preps
a) Make sure you have latest Samsung Kies installed and rebooted Windows
b) Download Odin from http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...9&d=1340384913
c) Download CWM Recovery for SC-06D "cwm_for_sc06d.tar.md5" from http://www.mediafire.com/?lvj9dz37wle2wee
d) Download SU root file "sgs3_rooting_signed.zip" from http://www.mediafire.com/?wrhanhh7g9vwlzi ,
connect Phone as media device and copy to the root of the "phone" mount.

Steps
1. Boot into Download Mode (Vol Down + Home + Power)
2. Using Odin, "PDA" button, Flash the "cwm_for_sc06d.tar.md5". Phone will reboot automatically.
3. Shutdown. Boot into CWM recovery mode (Vol Up + Home + Power)
4. Using CWM, flash the SU root file "sgs3_rooting_signed.zip". Reboot phone from within CWM, and you are done

Note: The stock recovery "stock_recovery.tar.md5" can be downloaded from http://www.mediafire.com/?q3aubc6lri3t2rk
and flashed using Odin in case something doesn't work out right with the CWM

Busybox isn't installed by default, so you need to grab it yourself from play.

Has anyone grabbed the new firmware from Kies? Will this root work with a different firmware?

Gentlemen, congratulations and rays of envy from me to you (:
Thank you for taking the risks of being the first among us and bricking your wives' phones! Could you please confirm though that with this "second" method the osaifu-keitai works fine?

Default Finally

I just finished rooting mine and getting all of the bloatware off. IDK about osaifu-keitai since I don't use it or know how to use it.

deletio,

Only one method here, that ewdi originally posted. I just reformatted it with amplifying information.

To answer your question, no have not tested osaifu keitai since I most likely won't use it, and don't know how to set it up. Sorry.

Hrm. Seem to be having problems getting CWM to flash. Odin seems to do it's stuff fine and the phone reboots. But I'm still stuck with the stock recovery.

EDIT: Scratch that. Root achieved. Not sure what was going on before.
