Best fix for this is either disable media scanner service and replace the apps that needs it or FORMAT YOUR INTERNAL SD (This is very RARELY ever done) after you install a new rom (especially if you are jumping to Stock Samsung and AOSP and vice versa) as that nukes all the cache files and rouge media corrupted files.
Where and how to disable media scanner service? Thus disabling it will not cause other problem aside from related program that needs it?
Just a quick update - I did a factory reset and it's been running fine ever since yesterday around 1pm. No crashes at all and I'm slowly starting to install my apps back on. Only thing different other than doing a factory reset was that I removed my SD card prior to doing all of this. I'll chuck it back in and see what happens.
I disabled the media scanner again after having it enabled the past few weeks. It definitely is a power consumer but it's not the source of the problem I think. My freezes have been almost gone lately maybe due to one of the fixes I've tried but I'm not sure which. They still occur during a game that shows a cpu load on kswapd and mmcqd but only after leaving the phone in deep sleep for awhile, not after a restart.
