[Q] Unable to flash recovery img due to not being able to download PIT file

My girlfriend has always had stock firmware on her i9300 (international). This morning it stopped working, so I told her I could revive it.

I've been trying to install cyanogenmod on it, as per http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9300. Heimdall connects, but when I try to flash the recovery image, I get the following error:

When I do heimdall print-pit, I do get this, though:

I've been trying Odin, actually. The problem with it is that is that my main laptop runs os x (where I've been trying Heimdall, as posted above), but Odin is on my old windows laptop. And it doesn't seem to have the proper usb drivers for the phone. I've been trying to install them, to no avail. Would you happen to know where I could get the proper usb drivers for the i9300?

It works for sure. Try every usb port on the pc. Deinstall Keis and it's drivers. Is usb debugging on in developer options?

Well, see, that's the problem I have. I can't get to usb debugging, because the phone won't turn on past the boot animation. I can get into download mode, but that's pretty much it.
