[Q] Can flashing wrong root file affect hardware?

I flashed wrong root via odin (was for S4) and I lost IMEI, S/N etc. In repair service they said they needed to replace BGA. Is it possible it damaged hardware? What is BGA anyway?

yes you can see many posts where user has blown digitizer chip .

bga is a ball grid array for miniature circuits connections see google .
