Question [Q] imei/baseband unknown on untouched stock fw

Sorry if this is stupid...i am a noob on Android.

I read many threads couldn't find a understandable solution

I have a sgs3 with untouched stock Firmware

From one day to another my Network vanished and was gone

I asked samsung if this is repairable, but unfortunatley some month ago my phone fell and

The glass crashed...which excludes all warranty for samsung

So i am on my own unless i pay 150 EUR to repair the glas.... which has never been an issue in using the phone

So i decided to root the device and planned to flash a new fw on it which i belived could solve the problem

I DID NOT FLASH ANYTHING TILL NOW! (I just rooted the sgs3 after i aleady lost my service)

Cause in the process of learning how to do it i checked my imei and saw it was gone...so was my baseband

I have no idea how this happend as it serms i am the only person on the planet to which this happend on a stock fe

I just read about people how bricked their devices by unproper flashing....

So what i ask for

Can someone point me to a tutorial which can help me?

Thx!!

First thing first. Install Ktool app from Google Play and then backup your EFS to your sdcard. Then store it (efs.img) to somewhere safe (e.g. you computer/mail/etc). That's where your IMEI and other related stuff is stored. If you loose that you'll loose it forever... (unless you send it to repair).

Go read the sticky threads in general forum, efs 'know this stuff'. Sounds like something changed, perhaps OTA update or partition corruption.
