Default Samsung S3 won't turn on, no screen, no LED, no vibration

My Samsung Galaxy S3 suddenly died and refused to turn back on.
No flash screen
No Vibrate
No Recovery mode
I tried all the 3 key combinations...
I have one of those download mode jig on the way, not sure if it will work...
Battery had ~45% when it died
Tried a different battery, no luck
Tried removing battery, hit power button, waited, put back battery, no luck
Phone was never rooted or running any custom ROM.

My question is... I've heard of samsung or phone technician changing out mainboard to save the phone...
Will I lose my data if I have that done?

If I use the jig to enter "download mode", could I recover my data that was on the phone?

The phone is old and due for a replacement... Not all that interested in saving the phone but
I really want to recover the data that's on the phone.

BTW...I have a 32G this is not a SDS, I think.

Any suggestions?

If might not be caused by the emmc chip bug, but the symptoms sound very similar.

If the usb jig enables download mode then flashing the exact same firmware again might enable your data to be recovered -but this is unlikely to be realistic.
