Default Review of Seidio CAPSA case for Galaxy S5 w/lots of pics!!!

This is a Review of Seidio CAPSA case for Samsung Galaxy S5.

Seidio is well known for their SURFACE, ACTIVE/DILEX, CONVERT, and OBEX cases (all spelled with capital letters). These cases typically get scaled up/down for different smartphones and some tablets, but on some occasions Seidio likes to throw a curve ball with some unexpected releases like LEDGER, or the new addition to the family - CAPSA. Especially for those who are not a big fans of applying their own screen protectors, now you can have a slick new case that exceeds military standards drop protection and includes 5H rated screen protector, all that without a need to use a screwdriver or breaking your nails to open the case. Here is what I found.

Arrived in their typical bulk signature red packaging you get CAPSA TouchView Case in one box and CAPSA holster in another. The case itself has a very unique design of a dual layer protection with a TouchView flip cover made with a 5H thickness rated screen protector with oleophobic coating. That flip cover is the most unique feature of this particular case. While it's not ground breaking to have a cover with a built-in screen protector, what unique is the actual cover mechanism that effortlessly flips close with a latch keeping S5 secure inside with an easy access to take it out. No need to sweat over screen protector alignment and worry about bubbles or non-adhesive edges. The only thing you have to be aware is this flip cover works on a phone without any screen protector already installed. In my test I had a thin tempered glass protector which I didn't want to remove, and when closing the cover a small gap remained open. Without a tempered glass layer, it would have been closed gapless, though touch screen of S5 still worked great with both layers. Another thing to keep in mind, this is not a waterproof case, and you will have cutout for Home button and other openings at the top of the screen.

Now, regarding the case itself. The back shell has two layers, inner TPU silicone layer with a new honeycomb pattern, referred to as Hexguard, for enhanced drop protection, and a strong PC shell with a soft touch outer finish and Seidio exclusive metal kickstand with magnetic latch. Enclosed inside of CAPSA, the phone exceeds MIL-STD-810G standard rating and can easily survive an average shoulder height drop of 4ft. The outer coating has a nice non-slip grip, and TouchView cover has a raised bumper to protect the screen when dropped face down or placed on a surface face down. The volume up/down and power buttons are covered underneath of rubber buttons and have a nice tactile response. Headphone, usb port, speaker, camera/flash have a generous opening, as well as all other ports that are open and clear. Metal kickstand is very robust and designed to keep S5 sturdy in landscape view. Holster is their common signature design used with CONVERT and OBEX, and in my opinion among the best available holsters with a spring loaded mechanism (which also has a latch) and removable clip that works with Seidio QUEST mounting system of interchangeable attachments.

Overall, I was very pleased with a design of this new Seidio case and found CAPSA to be a great addition to their lineup of other popular cases. This case has a perfect 360 degree protection inside of a dual layer slim case with a TouchView cover that offers a built-in quality screen protector. Typically, this level of protection comes at an expense of a bulky heavy duty design that not always pocket or purse friendly, but not with CAPSA where it's lightweight, slim, and will not pull your pocket lining when taking out. Definitely a great case to consider!

Nice looking case and build. The dots on the screen protector just killed it entirely.

Do you get the same "oil slick" with this cscreen protector as you do with the Otterbox Defender series.
