Sign I read so many posts here #HighlyAppreciated, I'm still a little lost.. #NewToAndroid
Hi, I read somewhere on this site that #Towelroot works on all models prior to(<) June 2014. I do not know what that date range pertains to exactly.. I have 2 "dates" that I highlighted in red below:
phone model: SM-G900F (International/ South Africa)
Manufacturing date: 2014-07-27 (does this qualify as "< June2014"..since it's on the cusp?)
Build date: May 8 2014
Product Code:SM-G900FZDAXFV
Bootloader, Baseband & PDA Version:G900FOJV1ANE2
CSC Version:G900FOJV1ANE1
Build #: KOT49H.G900FXXU1ANE2 (G900FOJV1ANE2)

Also, On the very first day that I got the phone, I connected to wifi & it just automatically started updating itself and applications on it.. Would this behaviour potentially remove root if it happens again & if so, how do I stop it from happening again?

My last concern is about knox.. I read somewhere here that downgrading may trip knox and since its an 'eFuse', tripping it cannot be undone.. Does that mean that it
1. cannot be undone ever, OR,
2. cannot be undone unless you reload the official OS obtained from samfirmware?
I haven't yet found an 'exact match' to my phone on samfirmware.. there were a few close one's though.. I know its generally a good idea to keep a ROM of the current OS.. but what if one can't be found?!?

Thanks in advance for all the reading material & knowledge transfer

The Build date is what matters when it comes to Towelroot. You should be good to go.

Knox is not an efuse, since it can be undone by the Samsung guys at the repair centres. To the public(us), there is no known way to reset it though.

You can also do a full backup of your ROM via custom recovery, that works almost every time(I have not had any issues) you mess up. If you're not sure, I'd not root right now.
