I purchased my 10" Titanium Bronze tablet yesterday and was messing around with the camera this afternoon. Look at the distortion of the right speaker and right edge of the television. For $549.00 I expect better. Question: Is the camera defective or is this normal? shot a 8mp (4:3)

I am seeing similar results too. I have a 8.4 model. I will put up some samples for you to compare when I get back home.

I can't tell where the focus point is so I can't say.

I'm concerned about the shapes. Notice the right speakers shspe. It appears to be leaning to the right.

It looks that way because the tablet is tiled slightly left while the speaker is not pointing straight. But look at the line of the speaker related to the line of the TV and stand. Straight. With a tiled shot and one speaker closer then the other and slightly turned you get that illusion.
