Default [Q] Tab S 10.5 not reconnecting to hidden WiFi access points

I was setting up a new Tab S 10.5 on a relatives network. The access point (router) is not set to broadcast. Of course the first time I wanted to connect I made the router visible and then the Tabs S connect per usual. After that I change the router back to invisible (no broadcasting). I fully expected the tablet to automatically reconnect with the router but that did not happen. I toggled the tablet's WiFi but I could only reconnect after I made the router visible again.

My relatives laptop has no problem connected to WiFi even when the router is not broadcasting. Its likely that some other tablet setting has been turned off. This is a relatives tablet and network so I can't experiment. On the tablet I'd turn off automatic WiFi scanning to save battery. Could that be the culprit?

Basically I'm asking if this is a Tab S issue that other owners have experienced?

Try using either 2.4 or 5 GHz channels with standard b, g, n etc.

Also try the same connected to a different brand of router.
