I've both the models of Tab S 8.4" & 10.5"
Both are LTE variants..
Both allow to place calls, receive/send SMS/MMS..

I replaced my Note 2 with a Tab S 10.5. I'll never buy another phone and I'll never buy another Samsung. The battery is not a concern. Treat it right and you'll never have a reason to remove it. That being said, it absolutely is replaceable. Not easily and not without proper tools but you can replace the battery.

While this particular tablet does not have the phone app, the hangouts dialer works just fine.

Yes a relative does this, I thought it was hilarious but he does everything on his tablet.

Must admit I tether and use my Tab S WIFI to my S6.

Kinda thought would be cool to ditch the S6 Edge and WiFi tab for a 4G.
