high there!

according to a little how-to i tried to remap 2 buttons and its chars:
[GUIDE - Simple way to change physical keyboard keymappings!]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2179306

if i mount my system partition to read/write i am able to write those keymappings in /system/usr/keychars/. when i try then to tab those buttons, everything is like before. if i reboot my phone, nothing gets changed but my changes in those keychar-files (*.kcm) are still present.

where else could these keymaps be safed? what could be wrong?

for eg:
Code:
    key COMMA {
        label, number:                      ','
        base:                               ','
        shift:                              ';'
        ctrl, alt, meta:                    none
    }
if i press shift-comma, still the symbol "<" gets wrote as text.....

i welcome any hints, cheers
