Thanks so much for the expedient and informative reply. I would love to root my S4 but have been unsuccessful in my efforts thus far. I tried using an old Moto root script several months ago but never got SU to stick. I was following a thread on this site regarding AT&T S4 rooting (I have an I337 NB1 on 4.4.2) that was meant for someone to post to when a successful root method was available but never saw anything further. If you can point me in the right direction for rooting my S4 then this really is my lucky day. Thanks again... Jim

Here are the main ones that I watch. I'm on Deadly Venom's v3. NB1, which has tethering enabled. It was the first I found and really like it but incase you dont, I have included another xda link. The other link has a stock rooted and stock rooted with tethering enabled. Also the saferoot link for rooting. You can't root NB1 just as it is! You must follow the downgrade steps back to MK2 and root with saferoot, install safestrap and then install their ROM of your choosing. They also are very active and give very quick help. Just make sure that you follow every step and choose a ROM with tethering enabled
Oh also I like to use the xda app from Play and subscribe to each of these with an email notifications to keep up with them.

GS4 Success!

Well Art, I finally got up the courage and made the time to tackle the rooting / flashing of my Galaxy S4 per your suggestion. It took a few hours and I kind of soft bricked it the first time I flashed the KitKat ROM. But I just wiped the stock ROM slot in Safestrap and restored the MK2 ROM from backup. I figured out that I used the wrong Odin module files the first time (method 1 instead of method 2). So anyway, I'm good for 3rd party apps and tethering now -- plus so far the DV v3.0.2 seems to be a fairly robust and viable ROM (good call on that, although I'll probably change the wallpaper at some point). Thanks again for all of your assistance in this matter. Take care... Jim

I've got a problem with upgrading my element p4100 to android 4.0.4. It USB port is disabled for cable connection to PC, so I can`t upgrade it in standard mode via cable. Can I make it somehow else, for instance via flash card?? I have not seen any information about this issue in internet so may be somebody can help me here.
Thank you in advance.

before you plug your tablet to PC go in settings developer options check USB debugging

now when your done that plug your tablet in your pc make sure you have the driver installed.

extract the zip file you downloaded

    run RunMe.bat select option 1

    on your tablet click restore.

the rest is just push any key and your tablet will be rooted

i am still trying to get CWM installed.

Works great! My data was not deleted. However, Root is gone, recovery became new stock, and fastboot doesn't seem to support the flash command anymore, so I couldn't root like before. fastboot oem lock is the only command that works. unlock doesn't. The new stock recovery also verifies the update (hardcoded to /sdcard/image/update.zip), so the usual Superuser zips signed with a test key doesn't work. Any other ideas?

CWM was overwritten with stock during the update, so can't nandroid back :D

At least I can now use Apex and Chrome

HDMI out on the Pantech Element

All I've done is rooted mine. I tried two different Elements on two TVs with the same cable.

My son's A100 works fine so the cable should be good. The element won't put out HDMI. I rooted it with just ADB commands to push su and chown, etc. Minimally invasive.

I reflashed the first tablet with the flasher so it was stock. I RMA'd it thinking bad HDMI port.

Same problem with the new one.

    Any ideas?

I know this post is very old but I was also having trouble getting HDMI out to work on the Element. It ended up having a simple solution: Plug the HDMI cable into the tv and tablet, then tap the power button on the Element to put it to sleep and tap again to turn it on. The Element screen is then mirrored to the TV.

I got the same problem after updating without losing my data. I did a factory restore erasing all my data and apps, and the clock problem went away. Seems some old settings are the one causing this and another issues. I really recommend to do a factory restore after upgrading.
