Google Nexus 5

The Google Nexus 5, released in Q4 2013, has been created in collaboration with LG. As with all previous Nexus devices, the Nexus 5 runs on a clean version of Android, in this case Android 4.4 KitKat. The Nexus 5 is powered by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 2.3GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and an Adreno 330 GPU. The 4.95" True HD IPS Plus display has a resolution of 1080 x 1920, with a pixel density of 445 ppi. Storage comes in at either 16GB or 32GB. Other features include an 8MP camera, LTE connectivity and a 2300mAh battery.

The Nexus 5 was released on October 31st, 2013. Initially available in black and white, it is now available red as well. The Nexus 5 has received strong developer support, and many custom ROMs, kernels and more are available on XDA. Click on to see full specs for the Nexus 5.

How to root the Google Nexus 5

Install prerequisites (for 64-bit Debian/Ubuntu-based install):
  • sudo apt-get install lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0 lib32stdc++6
  • Extract the zip file
  • Then "chmod +x root-linux.sh" to make the script executable.
  • Run "./root-linux.sh"
  • Follow the on-screen instructions.
On Windows Just Double Click the Batch File "root-windows.bat" instead of the Linux Script Shown in the Video.
