First day of using the Ringke Slim on my Nexus 5 and I love its slim feel and profile. It is so slim , I don't see how it can offer up much protection with a standard 3ft drop onto concrete. Anyone have any dropage survival stories to share while using this case?

Those cases aren't designed for drops, more on scratch protection

I dropped my phone off the sofa. It was on my lap and i got up really fast and it flew about 8 foot and bounced a bit... Its fine. I'm also using a cheap spigen screen protector.

The OP from here wasn't so lucky with a similar 1 piece hard case.

You'll need at least a tpu or a 2 piece hard case for the minimum drop protection.
