Yes, Google f***ed play service up.
Try this step : get to the Privacy menu and look for Google Play Services then long press the app. don't allow the app to Wake up, Keep awake, Auto start (I think you can keep the autostart but I haven't tried it yet) you'll sometimes get the play service error but still.. Better than wakelock ☺

Thanks boss, just made those changes. I kept autostart just to see how it pans out, the number of times it had run was in the tens whereas the other two were in the ten thousands haha. I'll let you know the results though.
