This is really nice, thank you. I do have one question however, since the base is CM 11 M9, would this be compatible with MultiROM?

Edit : Nevermind, downloaded the image and extracted it, it comes with it's own boot image thus answering my question that it does not. Thank you.

Argh, I can't make it boot on mine. Flashed CM 11 M9 and Jolla right after. Stays on Google logo.... could it be due to MultiROM?

Yes,

Flashed and ran it for about 14 hours before I couldnt deal with the bugs anymore

As an OS, this is awesome. Jolla store not working wasnt a huge deal, but I had to hack around a little to get Warehouse installed, heres what I did:

Open terminal
Code:
devel-su
cd /home/nemo/Downloads
Zypper install libsailfishapp
rpm -ivh harbour-warehouse-0.3-20.armv7hl,rpm

It worked, and I was able to install a few apps.

None of them worked great, pixel density was off across the board, so most games were really off. A few other miscellaneous bugs were present, but overall I love the OS.

Once GPU acceleration works, and Alien is ported over (I know it wont be official, someones gonna do it anyway) this could easily be a daily driver. MMS support would be nice too though, but I've been running the L preview and was fine without it for the most part

Thanks for testing and your comments , they are much appreciated. If you would not mind we have a bugzilla open for anything you feel needs fixing. https://bugs.nemomobile.org/buglist...ponent=Hybris-ing&product=Hardware adaptation

An open dalvik would be a huge step forwards and any help people can give please drop into #sailfishos-porters IRC

Tried, no luck. Stuck on Google logo. Waited for 10 minutes, reboot and the same thing. If CPU is busy my phone getting noticeably warm. But not this time, looks it was doing nothing.

Really excited to try. Thanks a lot, guys, for your great job. I'll watch closely this thread.

What makes you so sure of that, AlienDalvik's a proprietary solution, it's not an easy undertaking, IcedRobot really struggled to get anywhere.
I followed it & related/similar for years, but none of them got anywhere really...*
Jolla should be offering AD as a paid add-on via the store, not expecting the community to whisk a decent alternative into reality from thin air.

Surely a much better "step forward" would be to offer AD as a paid for add-on via the store...
Maybe longer-term you/we can aim for an open dalvik, but there's already too much you're/we're juggling over the next ~12mth.

*google IcedRobot & IcedRobot Dalvik, but here's 3 quick/dirty links:

I saw now we can run SailfishOS on Multirom doing some actions, but I'm not into this kind of actions, is possible to make something to flash normally?

I tried to make the mrom file, had lots of permission problems and I gave up eventually. Can anyone upload their mrom file?

No idea what you were doing.
I'll edit a link here when I have uploaded it.

We are working on a method which does not need you to produce the .mrom file from a script, stay tuned

vgrade

Sounds good, even though the script method was working for me.

You know you can do this. Remember when we played around with B2G back in the s2 days?

Oh, Mr. Julle, what a surprise :) I remember that time, but I have very low skills and short memories for these kind of things, I think I need an anti-noob/stepbystep/takemebythehand/givemesomehugs guide LoL :)

Is there something I overlooked when I uploaded this? /system of cyanogenmod and sailfish zip, right?

Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app

Hi Julle

sailfish.zip is totally fine no issues,

I'm just not sure of the contents of /system. Is everything in there redistributable? Nothing proprietary from qcom ?

We shall have a new method soon with a new version of multirom which will talk the cm.zip and sailfish.zip and flash them both together so IF this is an issue then we will have a fallback option.

Wow, Sailfish OS is amazing!
There some bugs but it's really a cool system, I love it :)
Thanks to all people involve in the developpement of this system :)

Oh and great news, I had found some tricks to use the keyboard predictions and jolla store to work and also a easy install of warehouse app!

First of all download the .rmp of warehous app to the official site https://openrepos.net/content/basil/warehouse-sailfishos
Now you will use the terminal app or the ssh access.
You need to have the root permission with this command 'devel-su' (use the password generate in the developper settings (or the one you defined)).
Now you have a root access, edit the ssu.ini file with this command 'vi /etc/ssu/ssu.ini' and delete your username and password. I mean under 'credientials-store' you have 'password=apassword' and 'username=yourusername', just delete what is writen after password and username like this 'password=' and 'username='
Then save the file.
After that, use 'zypper refresh' and you will see a something like 'Authentication required for...'. Delete your username and hit the enter key.
Now you have to write 'i' to ignore and press enter. Do that for all this kind of messages.
Then go to your downloads folder with 'cd /Downloads'. Now install the warehouse app with 'pkcon install-local harbour-warehouse-0.3-20.armv7hl.rpm'.
And now you can have the keyboard predictions by 'pkcon install jolla-xt9' and 'pkcon install jolla-xt9-cp'.
And for the store use 'pkcon install store-client'.
Now it's should work :)

PS : Sorry if I made mistakes in English, this is not my mother tongue, I try to do my best ;)

Jalyst Hi

I'm not a Jolla employee (I'm just part of the Sailfish community) so cannot comment on their plans in offering AD as a paid option from the store.

If you want to request this please do so at https://together.jolla.com/questions/

From a community standpoint I'd much prefer an open solution.

The way the Sailfish stack is designed it leads itself more to an open solution than previous attempts. It uses the android driver libs from original /system , runs an init just as in real android. For example surface flinger would run if you enabled it from init.rc. We can run the original dalvik. So all (and I know its a significant task) that is required is some plumbing to allow switching of surface flinger output to hwcomposer instead of lipstick (the sailfish compositor) and switching touch.

I'd invite anyone interested to join us at sailfishos-porters to discuss further

    Sailfish OS for Nexus 5

    Budv9CPCYAAzlNz.jpg:small

MultiROM ≥v28 ability is now in the image (starting alpha2). New to MultiROM? Read here.
    Bum3lcgIEAAi7GZ.jpg:small

This is a community port of Jolla's Sailfish OS for the Nexus 5.
It features a gesture-based user interface with a unique design and ease-of-use in mind.
For more information about Sailfish OS please head over to sailfishos.org.

This is not an Android ROM, this is a different base of an operating system called Linux, running glibc library.
It only uses parts of Android for hardware enabling (drivers).

Special Thanks to the Nexus 5 porters situ & vgrade, and their helpers: alin, dmt, tbr, iKozzz, MultiROM author Tassadar, Jolla sailors especially jusa, spiiroin, phdeswer, Hannu Mallat, the HADK team, the Mer Project, the Nemo Project and all the fine people over at #sailfishos-porters

    Release Notes:
This release is based on Sailfish OS 1.1.9.28
The Nexus 5 port is considered to be of beta quality.
Though depending on your usage it might be stable enough for daily use.

    Download & installation instructions:
    https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptations/libhybris/Install_SailfishOS_for_hammerhead

    HW Support status:
(Look for Nexus 5 row): https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptations/libhybris

Bug reports, if internet search refuses to help:
    • First search XDA for keywords. Things like libsailfishapp have already been worked out by this amazing community
    • Software-related bugs (Sailfish OS): first search http://together.jolla.com . Tag your questions with "community-build"
    • Hardware-related problems: at the Nemo Project Bugzilla under Hybris-ing component
    • Please do not contact Jolla Care or Jolla Developer Care, as this is not the Jolla phone :)

    Known issues:
    • Android app support is not available (unlike in Jolla phone), but you can already play classic Android games like this. On app side there has been some awesome progress on #sailfishos-porters on irc.freenode.net, status reports being on this XDA Thread
    • All remaining: In Bugzilla

    ROM Kernel: Linux 3.4.0

    Tips:

MultiROM users: if your primary ROM is Lollipop based, just install any Sailfish OS version accompanied with CM11 .zip, and you'll have best of both worlds working! Thanks to @julle131 for finding this!

    Changelog:
    Moved to Mer Wiki: https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptations/libhybris/Install_SailfishOS_for_hammerhead#Changelog.

Nice work. I'll definitely give it a shot!

Thanks! We have just fixed the backlight problem, so wait for proper alpha4 release with latest sailfish and no battery drain

Nice work. I'll definitely give it a shot!

Today everyone's buzzing about Jolla Phone update 10 just out, but community has candy for those of you without a Jolla: Nexus 5 Alpha4 is out! Read the first post for downloads and Change Log!

Jolla Store works! Re-sign-in with your account and enjoy those apps! (also coming soon to another Sailfish OS ported device near you ;) )

If an app doesn't work well, contact their author and tell about it.

If icons look too small/don't scale, you also can tell to the author, that after next release there will be SDK update for Jolla Tablet, then we'll also update https://sailfishos.org/develop/docs/silica , explaining how to scale your apps; author can also nag us bit more by writing to sailfish-devel mailing list ;)
