While surfing through the net I found something really interesting for our Nexus 5. It's titled as Maru OS by the original developers. It was the first time I heard about it, so I thought I'll paste it here so that people get to know more about it and if someone has used it, they might share the experience. What this amazing OS does it it turns your desktop to Debian Linux as soon as you connect your phone. That's something really interesting. Wanna know more? Checkout this link here.

If you wanna know about the hardware which the dev supports, try this.

Maru is open source, read it here.

Maru FAQ page for current users is here.

Note - I'm not the original developer. I'm just promoting the devs awesome work. I believe in Maru. Checkout the screenshots to see it yourself. ;)

Good afternoon, I asked and checked for a build with no success. Does it is only in the developer's hands?

Regards,
Dont hurry him too much, he is currently preparing code and github stuff and such things. If youd read the post youd know that.

I only signed up 10 days ago so I should be in the last batch but hopefully the batches are large and the site is capable of handling the traffic when the links are live

BTW
I been using Debian for the last 3 years on my PC so I'm really looking forward to having it instead of android for carrying round
Also i wonder if the Debian screen could be output via Chromecast/miracast think I will have to email and ask

Edit:
I just got my beta links but will need to download files read the documentation and flash it then I can come back with some first impressions but I'm still waiting for my slimport cable to arrive so can't test the Debian side for a few more days

Congrats man. Sounds good. Yeah, it's very minimal. Did you try it on a desktop?

Not yet still waiting for my cable to arrive
Not sure if its because I haven't connected to a monitor or not but if its running Debian at the same time as android then I have yet to feel any lag or slowdown

    Just got this from preetam

I'm still sending out beta invites! I just sent out Feb 14 invites today and Feb 15 will be going out in a day or two. I'm pretty busy the rest of the month with other things so there won't be much updates until April, when I plan to focus on publishing the source and setting up a community wiki.

I just send Hammerhead2502 an email about updates on Maru for this month but I'll quickly give you a summary too: I have an experimental update zip for Maru now that can be flashed through TWRP like with normal ROMs. I'm testing this with a few of my beta testers right now. This should make it a lot easier to install Maru for the XDA community. Plus, this enables you to use Maru as a secondary in MultiROM! Other than that, v0.2.1 and v0.2.2 (fixes a system time sync issue on reboots) are looking more and more stable.

So yes he is still sending out links and there is an update coming hopefully soon and we might be able to share the link and maybe we can get a proper thread over in development to post the links and screenshots and things

for those asking for a download link... just google the name of the download file and you'll find it

the name of the file is
    maru-v0.2.1-hammerhead-windows-cdfdc111

i found it in 5 minutes. This version IS outdated though compared to current beta, so the Zip file you download is use at your own risk.
Maru is in version beta 0.2.2 and a zip flashable compatible multirom come soon ;)

Finally!! Look at this. Isn't it super cool? :D
