This is for those that have to RMA their device like me and got an expected 3-4 week delivery schedule. Post the date here that you RMA'd, then post again when shipped, to give an actual expected timeframe of when to expect a shipment. Please quote your original when posting "shipped" to make it easier to track. This will undoubtedly fluctuate around now and the next couple weeks. So, let's keep this thread going, so people 3 weeks from now still have a realistic idea of when to receive a shipping confirmation.

We all hate to RMA a device we just received, so this isn't a whining thread. This is just a way to form some sort of objective information.

How about posting why you're sending the phone back too? Might help in the long run to ease some people's minds.

That can be found in defects section. This is for RMA information on date filed and date shipped. Everyone has their reasons. This is information only to provide objective data. This is not a thread to judge for their reasons. I hope everyone can respect that, and keep this thread to its purpose.

Then why not combine them as it's one in the same.

Because as I stated this is to form objective data. Just facts on estimation of RMA process. There are those that ridicule people for their reasons to RMA. This will not become a thread of judgment. You can go to defects and say what's wrong and you're doing an RMA.

Hey all, heads up if it hasn't been discussed (apologies if it has already): Google no longer sends out new replacement devices. I just got off the phone with a Google rep who informed me they changed their policy with respect to Nexus 5 and now ship only refurbished ones.
My Nexus 5 was purchased from the Play Store in the US.

Just got the email as well:

"Thank you for contacting Google. Here is the email to begin the exchange process, please read and follow the steps below.
Your replacement device will be refurbished and has been reconditioned to strict factory standards and like-new condition. The device will operate to its original factory specifications.

Click the link below to order your replacement at no charge. If you don't have a Google Wallet account, you'll be asked to sign up. You won't be charged for the replacement or shipping, but your card may be temporarily authorized up to the full price of the item and shipping. The attached shipping label has your return tracking number. Once you drop off your package, you can follow the tracking number to see when it's been received at our warehouse. After the item is received at our warehouse, the authorization will be removed within 21 business days."

Just a quick off topic question: Last night I rooted with cf-autoroot, then this morning I unrooted from the SU app, downloaded a terminal to check it was unrooted, and then planned to use Triangle Away to reset the counter. Only then did I realise that Triangle away needs root to work. So would you guys recommend I re-root, use Triangle away and then un root again before sending this device back?

Woah woah woah, RED LIGHT! You are about to get yourself in a bad situation. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT attempt to run Triangle Away. Triangle away is meant to reset the flash counter on Samsung devices only. Your Nexus 5 has no flash counter and attempting to run Triangle Away will damage your device. DO NOT attempt to exchange your Nexus 5 in its current state, as Google can and will refuse warranty coverage on tampered devices. Follow all of the instructions in the tutorial below to return your device to its factory state before you attempt to exchange it or else Google may charge you for BOTH devices.

[TUTORIAL] How to flash a factory image | Return to stock | Unroot your Nexus 5

One more thing, next time do your homework before you start tinkering so that you don't find yourself in such a situation.

Android 5.1 Nexus 5 Out of Warranty RMA

I recently upgraded my Nexus 5 from 5.0.1 to 5.1 via fastboot. I got 5.1 directly from Google developers.google. A few days later my N5 started having random reboots and the power button started behaving randomly. The next day the phone would not boot, it would get stuck on the spinning dots (for more than 30 minutes). I tried to wipe my phone and start over, but I kept getting FAILED messages. Could not even do an OEM Unlock. Basically my phone was bricked. The worse part was my phone was out of warranty, I have had it for 15 months.

I called Google's Support 855-836-3987 as a last ditch effort. I explained what happened and the support representative put me on hold while he checked what could be done with a "specialist". After checking, I was told they would replace my phone free of charge (of course with a refurbed one), even though I was out of warranty. I didn't even have to ask.

Morale of the story, if you have a N5 that is out of warranty, which you upgraded to Android 5.1 and now it is bricked. Call Google, they can help.

I've RMAed 3 times now and waiting for 4th White RMA. So far all had button rattle.
This is my last RMA if 4th one still rattle. I give up.

I would do a sarcastic "#firstworldproblems" comment but this kinda fits beyond that.

Really? Why would any one authorize a return for that issue?
