Default Cyanogen mode yes or no ?

I ask myself ,what really is the divergence between stock ROM and cyanogen 11.+
It would be nice to hear some experience from you guys.! Or any tips for a diverend ROM and why that one you prefer should be the one for me to choose. Thank you
