From Nexus specs, we know Nexus 5 video format is limited to H.264, H.263, MPEG-4, VP8. If I want to transfer other videos to it, I need to change the format first. I goggled and find the way adding video files (MKV, AVI, VOB, Tivo, MPG, WMV, FLV) to Nexus 5 from computer for smooth playback with Pavtube Video Converter, very useful.

I just use MX Player. haven't found anything I neesd to convert yet. With a custom codec, it can even mix down DTS 5.1 audio in MKV
