why does a lot of accessories retailers keep listing the Nexus 5 (D820/D821) as the nexus 5 E980 ?

the E980 is the
LG Optimus G Pro ...NOT the Nexus 5 !!

I don't know. You should contact the retailers and ask them instead of posting this question here.

when shopping for nexus 5 accessories... nearly 8 out of 10 listed the nexus 5 as the E980 ...etc

if it was only a particular vendor I would have ask them... but was curious as to why the majority does...etc

besides... is this NOT the Q&A section ??

It is, but how would any of us know why they call it that?

No one got moody. And usually there never is a reason why retailers post the wrong model number.

OP: I wouldn't worry about it. If it looks like the shape of a Nexus 5 and the description says "Nexus 5" and not the G pro, then just get it.
