Hello,

Removing velvet (Google App) on marshmallow on a stock nexus 5 causes a bootloop. In lollipop, it could be removed completely.

Does anyone know how to remove google app completely without causing a bootloop on marshmallow?

Thanks a lot.

Did you try another system app? Did you modify something else? And how did you remove it?
That's pretty weird...

I removed it using system app remover. I didn't modify anything. I just rooted my phone and started removing bloatware. It's all fine. To find what's causing the bootloop, I uninstalled all bloatware except velvet. Right now, I'm using my phone. It's working perfectly but if I remove velvet, phone will be stuck in bootloop. I really want to remove this google app.

Have you been able to remove google app?

I don't use it at all (Pico GApps package). Try to freeze the app instead of removing it.

Freezing it won't remove the google bar on recents screen. I want it gone completely.

Are you on stock marshmallow or using a different rom?

Lollipop allows velvet to be removed. Marshmallow doesn't.

It's time to flash a custom rom with a small GApps package
