Default OTA update on rooted Nexus 5

I've currently received a notification for an OTA update to 4.4.2 on my rooted Nexus 5. I was under the impression that if you root your phones, you no longer get updates OTA (source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2508292). For example, with 4.4.1 I manually flashed the .zip file. My question is should I update using OTA or should I manually flash 4.4.2? Are there advantages/disadvantages to both? And why am I getting OTA updates when my device is rooted?

Always read the OP's of a thread and the last 2 pages before asking questions, unless there has been an update - in which case, read the last 5 pages!
