Default Which way is it safer to install/flash recovery?

Is it safer or the safe for me to just 1)install goomanager and install 'openrecoveryscript' for twrp or 2)just use using command prompt to fastboot flash recovery? I feel option 1 would be faster but I'm not sure if it would be 100% safe, I'd like to get a suggestion before I get to doing something that I'm not exactly rock solid about. I'm new to the whole Nexus eco-system!

Download twrp manager from the playstore , go under advanced, and hit install recovery. Goomanager doesn't install twrp anymore

Either is safe. I prefer fastboot, but it's a personal preference
