Default Screen Protector?

Hey I just got the Nexus 5 and was wondering if a screen protector is really necessary for the Nexus 5?

Any input is appreciated

It's not necessary. They take away somewhat from the overall usability of the screen but give you peace of mind in return.

Personally I use a glass protector and the feel is basically like a naked screen, and I don't notice any difference in sensitivity of the screen or the proximity sensor. It's quite a bit more expensive than a plastic protector but I think it's worth it.

The screen will scratch.

How much that will bother you is a matter of taste.

The Spigen protectors are awesome (both the glass and the plastic). It greatly reduces "my" stress over putting the phone in my pocket and even the plastic ones are nearly unnoticeable both visually and and to touch.

Definitely recommend the glass screen protectors. It feels just like the original screen. Once you try it, you'll never use a plastic protector again.

Using nexus with screen protector is like "Smelling the rose with gas mask". Remove it and enjoy the perfect colors.

Up to you. I prefer not to but it will scratch without one eventually. Its great against bigger objects like Stanley knives and scissors but its grit that's fine enough to scratch.
