Do they throttle netflix or something? Torrents I can sustain 1 MB/s+ on torrents easily but netflix tops out at high 720p? What gives?

I do not believe they do. I get 1080p on my device and have been since 4.3 came out on my Galaxy Nexus.

Really? I'm baffled, I get 10 mbps minimum on my speedtests while they generally hover at 15-20 mbps range and I'm not getting 1080p. I would think with the insane torrenting speed I get that 1080p netflix should be doable. Better yet 1080p twitch.tv/1080p youtube works fine.

I play netflix fine on my device and used over 10 gigs of data. The only problem with my N5 over the slimport, i get audio lag when I do something on my phone and go back to the movie. I have to disconnect and reconnect the cable to sync again.
