Default Update From SD Card?

I've tried searching for an answer on this but haven't had any luck. Is it possible to update from the SD card using the stock recovery? Or should I say is it safe to? I don't have a computer that I can install ADB on.

If so, any idea why I don't have that option, it only lists Update From ADB in my recovery (I am not connected to anything via USB).

Thanks, and sorry if it's been answered elsewhere already (if so a link would be awesome).

Edit - Aaaaaannnnnd... I didn't post in the Q&A forum. Mods feel free to move. Sorry.

The stock recovery doesn't seem to have an option for it... I wanted to try it but ended up sideloading it.

Blah, this stinks. I only have a work laptop without admin rights so I can't install the device drivers. Seeing everyone sideloading it is killing me. 😈
