Default Updating to KitKat 4.4.1

I am rooted/bootloader unlocked with TWRP v2.6.3.1. When I try to flash in recovery manually with ota zip, I get a Failed error with error "E: error executing updater binary in zip"

What are steps to update for a situation like mine??

First off, I'd update twrp to the newest version. 2.6.3.4 I believe. Second you need stock ROM,stock kernel, stock everything. So you may need to fastboot flash the stock images in order to update. Or just sit tight a day or so and wait for the source to be released,so you won't have to reroot, and just flash an updated 4.4.1 rom

Thanks for the reply.. I think I will just wait for the 4.4.1 rom. I am a recent iOS convert and still not well-versed with Android.

Just found out Google is pushing the source out tonight so updated ROMs will be available either tonight or in the morning I'm sure

Either way I'd update twrp if I were you. Its always good to have the latest version installed

For everyone trying to flash this and having problems. Heres what i did.

I run stock 4.4, Faux kernel, volume mod patch, and ive renamed a few apk's in system to remove them.

I downloaded 4.4.1 zip, and revert volume mod to stock zip, saved to phone.
Made TWRP backup
reflashed the stock kernel via fastboot
fixed my renamed files in /system/app
Made sure SuperSU survival mode was enabled
booted into TWRP, flashed 4.4.1 zip

Phone rebooted and i have 4.4.1 with sustained root.
Reflashed faux kernel via twrp

What ive noticed, camera is faster and overall better.

Speaker volume definitely increased, no more need for FauxSound or the Volume Mod.

Actually I think I am set now... the only mod I installed was the increased volume mod and all I had to do was re-flash the stock volume zip and the 4.4.1 went right through. It is now optimizing my apps.
