Question Fail
Made a bootanimation and it works in the bootanimation creator and preview programs. It is too large (> 100 MB) for /system/media, so I put in in local/data with 644 permissions. Booted twice, once renamed /system/media/bootanimation.zip and once with it properly named. Didn't work either time. This zip is 640x480 because the 1080p version came out to 450MB. Can someone take a look?

Nice animation. Someone has put much work work into it.

At 30 FPS, and 2687 frames, that animation is 90 seconds long. I target about 8-9 seconds for either a complete loop, or prior to the loop.

In one folder, I've had issues with 200+ frames.... Prior attempts have locked my phone.

I don't know that the WAV file would go directly in the .zip. I'm not aware that the N5 supports bootanimation sounds. I've seen animations where the sound file was installed in /system/media/ along-side the bootanimation.zip file, not within it.

If you're keeping 30 FPS, I'd keep the animation to 199 frames or less. You could certainly have larger frames then.

With bootanimations, you're trying to tell a story in under 10 seconds. Using your full animation is too much.

This is a tough one, which animation is your favorite that you always go back to? 😀

also, which one has the most downloads?

I'll start with the top-ten downloads:

01 - Envisioned Android
02 - Android L, N7 (Maxed)
03/04 (Tie) - Android L - N7 (Mod)
03/04 (Tie) - Vaudeville (Barbershop)
05 - Matrix (Green)
06 - Glow Nut
07 - Circular Associations B
08 - Nexus Particles
09 - Nexus One
10 - AOSP Default

I'm "old school", and the one animation that I always fall back to is Machina Azul; it's beautiful, brazen, and un-apologetic. My other "usual suspects" are:

ICS-Upscaled
Android Factory (I vary the color)
Spectral Flames
Molecules
Resonance
Fireworks (48-inch Shell)

I run more animations than that, depending on how I feel, but the above are the ones I continuously return to. I usually keep 3 or 4 animations in a folder, and when I do maintenance, I switch them out.
