After using 8sms and Sliding Messaging for a while, I've gone back to Hangouts. As far as I can tell, they've mostly fixed the little annoyances I had with it when it first came out. I don't get the lag anymore that I used to get when sending/receiving texts, for instance.

I only use it for SMS though

Any SMS app with a small RAM footprint? Using HoverChat at the moment, using about 8-10 MB.
Device: LG Nexus 5
ROM: Stock + GravityBox + Greenify + Gravity Screen
Kernel: ElementalX-N5-0.45
Recovery: TWRP 2.7.1

I use 8sms. Is simple, fast and feature rich. I also like the new QKSMS
Device: LG Google Nexus 5
OS: 4.4.3 KitKat
Kernel: Stock

I think Evolve is the best in terms of features and what not. GoSMS is also good but spammy. I tend to feel like they offer the most customization.

Hello would be good if they had quick reply and in general more customization like vibrate pattern, etc.

8SMS and CM are ok but the issue is the UI is dated and the app scrolls choppy as hell.
Current:
OnePlus One | CM 11S | Nexus 5 | crDroid for Nexus 5

Legacy Devices:
LG Nexus 4 | CM 11 Nightlies | Google Nexus 10 | CM 10.2 Nightlies | Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100 | CM 11 Nightlies | HP TouchPad | CM 11 Nightly 06072014 | Nexus S i9020a | CM 11 Nightlies | Motorola Milestone | CM 7.2 (16.06.2012)

How do you use an enter key using a third party keyboard?
Seems like the app forces a smiley key

Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app

With SwiftKey you just long press the bottom right arrow/smiley button then press one more time and it goes to the next line

Nexus 5 (4.4.3) running Carbon/ElementalX
