Description
A Nexus 5 Boot Animations Collection from multiple sources and authors.

Disclaimer
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your device. By downloading and flashing or installing these zips, you automatically agree that I won't be held liable for anything that happens to your phone.

Background
I've chopped, cropped, scaled, twisted, and tweaked some existing animations to work on the Nexus 5 (or probably any other device that has a 1080x1920 display).

My goals are simple: to load the animation as quickly as possible, to reduce stutter and hesitation during playback, and to provide a quality viewing image. I'm very happy with what I'm seeing on the 5-inch screen of the Nexus 5: smooth, clear animation with no hiccups.

The animations chosen were visually appealing to me and fit within the 10-11 second display time provided by my RastaKat Vanilla AOSP 4.4.3 build. Even at 30fps, 10 seconds only allows about 300 frames.

Installation
These animations are provided in two formats: a "flashable" archive (noted as "CWM & TWRP") that installs to /system/media/, and a stand-alone bootanimation.zip file (noted as "Manual Install").

Before attempting to install anything, rename your existing /system/media/bootanimation.zip file to something like "old-bootanimation.zip"; by doing this, you can simply delete the new installed file and revert the old file back to its original name.

To install via flashable zip (after renaming the original file in /ststem/media/), put it somewhere on your "SD card" (internal storage), reboot to recovery, install the file and reboot.

You can manually install the bootanimation.zip file to /system/media/ (some folks like /data/local/, the system SHOULD look there first and bypass the /system/media file - your mileage may vary), use a file manager with ROOT access to copy the file and change the permissions to 644 (rw,r,r).

Featured Artists
RichieRich84:
Some beatiful animations by RichieRich84, from XDA Forums. I've reduced his original animation file sizes considerably. Excellent design work. I'm looking forward to seeing more stuff from him. His "Envisioned Android" is stunningly simple.

Admiral Potato:
Outstanding work! His animations are so smooth and elegant. Another XDA user, DryEagle, had asked if someone could convert "Hexagonal Tunnel" to an animation; I couldn't resist. "Glow Nut 5" is simplicity in its purest form. Fun animations. His original animations are at Imgur.com. You can find more info on his website.

Paolo Ceric (converted to Android by raishiro):
Stunning! Wild! Breathtaking! These are truly unique and elegant designs that fit nicely into a Nexus 5. Paolo Ceric's work can be found on this website. Here is raishiro's original XDA thread.

JaeKar99:
Author, developer, and poster of many, many boot animations. He's now retired. Unfortunately, his original archive has been taken off-line and the original artwork is slowly disappearing. If you see something he created that you like, you may want to archive it. Many of the original images were for older phones with very small resolutions; I wish there was a source for original, pre-scaled images/frames. Perhaps they were rendered at smaller resolutions to begin with? The included animations are my favorites from JaeKar99's collection, and they seem to scale well to the Nexus 5. Some sources for his original work can be found here, on this site, and on this page.

Thank you. There are so many animations out there to choose from. I picked the ones that were clean and interesting.

On my phone's storage, I have a folder filled with the "flash-ables" I like; when I update my GApps or some other component via TWRP, I will switch between animations.

"Glow Nut 5", "Envisioned Android", "Sphere 1" and "Worm" are my current faves right now.

Yeah! I do it manually, using PA actually I choose a bootanimation that matches with the theme I'm using, u know... Color, concept... I remember back on nexus 4/old nexus 7 times, @sparksco had his rom with randomized bootanimations... Awesome!

I wish Google did something differently with boot animations... Giving the end-user a little more control. /data/local isn't necessarily the cleanest option, and there's no real GUI to manage things; a GUI should be stock, like Gallery. Actually, extending Gallery to manage boot animations in /data/local might work.

They never talk to me though. Heh.

Added a number of animations since my last post:

Silly Shoe Path
ICS
Nexus One
Nexus Particles (original)
Eyes Blue
Eyes Red
Pyral (updated - zoomed closer and smoothed)
Spectral Flames (updated - smoothed)
Blue Hallway

Odd... The number-one downloaded animation is the Green Matrix one. I wouldn't have guessed that.
