IMO, the easiest way is go into Venom Tweaks & there's a place under the advance tab to select custom bootanimation & downanimation. That's what I did.

I downloaded the individual icon .apks and then installed them. Then I went into Homepage Tweaks & selected the icon pack I wanted to use.
I never installed the splash screen but I'm pretty sure that has to be done thru fastboot.

a big thanks for all your job.
even after a clean instal of viperonem8 and multicam 4.3.1 i have white icons on the top left and the NFC icon also.
with the icon pack i steel have icons like gallery , fring and some else on original.

If you go back into tweaks and select customize icons, you can manually change the ones that didn't automatically update.
There's also a tweak in the status bar section that will let you tint the color of all the icons in the status bar.

if you talk about the tweak 'status bar theme' , the problem is that he don't show me all icon , like htc sync , usb connection , usb depuration .

How I changed the icons is actually under the color tweak section.

Just noticed looks like some of the text on data manager settings isn't visible currently. No bother, just FYI.

Side note - can ask in main rom thread if best - have I gone mad, or did there used to be an option to remove search from recent apps screen? Could have sworn there was, but the damned thing just popped back up on me (fighting with lyapota's close all button).

Which reminds me, the close all apps button is white too ?

If you go to recovery you can switch between Zips and Image to flash.
If you select Images you see the recovery img and you can flash that, simply select recovery location, NOT BOOT!!
Or you can do it like stated in fastboot,

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

And yes, the icon pack used there is just my personal pack i edited over the years.
The base i think was done for the OneX years ago by @Basil3 and is called Corporate.
Over the years i tweaked it a bit to my own liking.
Due to that fact you can see totally wrong icons for apps u use, coz i just changed few icons for apps i personally use and never edited the xml, id and or activity... Lazy!!
I just use the "custom icon" option in tweaks and scroll to the icon i need.

If you are using apps that are not in the pack and you want that icon i can take a look for you.
Iam not prommising anything but if its jus few icons for some ppl i can add them.
Just make sure you give me a link to the playstore for that specific app and ill see what i can do

Installed and working great. It's actually better than great. It's kick a$$. This is the theme I've always wanted!
