S-on v/s S-off

I'm using rooted phone but I want knw the difference between S-on and S-off ....
Which is more useful and why ??

S-off = security off
S-on = security on

in s-off,kernel can flash from recovery
in s-on,kernel can flash from only pc,cant flash from recovery..

s-off :

-Downgrade/upgrade the hboot
-Return to stock including locked bootloader is easier for warranty
-no more boot.img flash needed when changing roms
-flash recoveries from within the recovery with a zip file
-flash any firmware from all regions (like a wwe version on a honkong version)
