Did you try towelroot.com? I'm really behind on this device but I know that it works on the hdx kindles and is relatively safe to try on any android device

Firerooter_dist_windows_0.2.3 will and there are a few other apps that will do it also..BUT.. you need a 'Factory Cable'... The device Must go into fastboot.

That's the problem I had with my hd 7. I used Root Many Android which worked great, but I couldn't adb into fastboot mode. Got the cable & all is well.

I've tried using RootMany and when I'm on exploit step it fails with following
Quote:
Error No such file or directory
Error No such file or directory
Error No such file or directory
Error No such file or directory
Failed to obtain root privilege.

any ideas?

never mind, figured out what was wrong - in the "Part four" step, I assumed that documentation has not been updated and was trying to flash with 'boot/11325-boot.img' instead of boot/11310-boot.img. After changing to boot/11310-boot.img it seems to work
