So I went into /system , /etc , and looked for mixer_paths.XML file so that I could increase the kindles speaker volume but lo and behold the mixer_paths.XML file is not there. Does anyone know what happened to it? What file did amazon stick the volume presets in?

Hello conan1600

The presets for speaker volume are in /system/vendor/amazon/smartvolume/

I have played about with these but any significant increase comes at the cost of distortion. Could be a side effect of how the audio system is wired - not sure at the moment. I am planning to eliminate this smartvolume stuff with a major update to audio stack.
