SlimMarsh for OtterX

This Rom is for the Kindle Fire (1st Gen) with Hashcodes OtterX partition layout ONLY.

SlimRoms is a custom android operating system. The main goal is to offer users a slimmed down but still feature rich alternative to other android operating systems.
The entire SlimTeam work together to bring you this tailor-made beauty straight from Android Open Source Project (AOSP) source code.
All of the sources can be publicly viewed through GitHub and you can stop by the public Gerrit to submit patches of any type.

Slim6 is the project name for SlimRoms based on Android 6.0, SlimMarsh is my version and offers the following original features:

Bugs

1/ Aosp keyboard crashes, "FIXED"
2/ boot animation a little borked on part1, "FIXED"
3/ slim launcher has no app drawer icon set by default. just long press home screen, widgets, slim launcher and add a shortcut "All Apps"
4/ screen rotation has some graphical glitch.
5/ Laggy (maybe just our poor kindles can't cope :) )
6/ Initial boot causes bootloop (just reboot after a couple of minutes and all will be fine).

let me know when you find more bugs, some are inherited from the slim source as they are only just bringing M up.

Tips

1/ set all 3 animation settings in dev/settings to off.
2/ using a kernel tool ie, "kernel Auditor" set io scheduler to deadline and read ahead to 256kb.
3/ goto settings/apps and make sure permissions are checked for playstore etc
4/ leave it alone while it downloads apps as it nearly stops :) once everything is installed and setup, reboot and then leave alone again for a couple of minutes. "the wait is worth avoiding frustration :)".
5/ Layers works, so full theming is sweet. dl the layers manager app from playstore, "i love Jimmy's magpie theme" (dont forget to checkout the about section :) and package name)

ENJOY :D

could this rom be modified to work with the Amazon Fire 5th Gen?
no its a different device completely, but it could be built from source if someone updates your device and kernel repos. its very slow with many bugs too at the minute. I've only just got it booting? but working through them one by one. interesting that a 5th gen wants a 1st gen rom ? woot!!! do you not have M yet?

So I found a few kernel commits that seem to fix many issues.

They seem to fix gapps related force-closes and video playback. I can confirm Netflix and YouTube working.

I don't have slim source synced at the moment, but I made a CyanogenMod 13 (Android 6.0.1) build if anyone wants to try it out.

    Install instructions:
wipe data, cache, dalvik-cache, and system
    flash ROM
    flash Gapps
    boot
    let sit for 5-10 minutes
reboot (first boot after data wipe currently doesn't have WiFi working)
    setup and enjoy!

This is great! Cant believe 6.0 MM on my Kindle - my Galaxy S5 cant even do it! (Here I come Nexus) Thank you!!
Yeah, cm-13 runs surprisingly well now on otterx.

SELinux needs some work for M before we can get it back in enforcing. I plan on doing a SEPolicy bringup for M in the near future.

Once that is done, maybe I'll stop hijacking this thread and make my own cm-13 thread.
