Is there any other ROM with a good implementation for this ?

Phablet ui and all hybrid settings where killed in the implementation of kitkat. So no. If you wanna change dpi you can do it on any rom, just changing the build.prop , some roms like vanir or AICP have a dpi changer( the same thing than changing from the file )
