I used the Z2 for 3 months before getting the G3 and my experience is that the Z2 does perform better where battery is concerned, but only just. Both phones were used in the same setup including same apps, launcher, same rooted and same apps frozen. I clocked in regularly 5hr SOT on the Z2 but only 4hr on the G3.

That is quite amazing, I've not managed more than 17hrs with maybe 3hrs on screen time at 60% brightness most of the time with my G3 since I got it a few weeks ago.

LG G3

Pro's

- Bigger screen and smaller in length then the Z2 (a tid bit wider then the Z2)
- Brightness is a lot higher on the LG
- Better microphones/earspeaker (both in video and calling)
- No flaps
- Feels better in the hand
- Louder speaker (a bit lower quality but i prefer loudness over quality... I just put earphones in for listening music)
- Removable battery
- Awesome standby time
- Super fast autofocus
- Good camera
- Front facing camera is better

Cons
- Worse SOT (screen on time)
- More noticable lag then the Z2
- Not waterproof
- (Maybe) worse camera then the Z2
- Bad looking UI (my opinion)
- Gets hot easily
- When its warm you can't turn the screen brightness to 100% because its to hot?

Xperia Z2

Pro's

- Waterproof
- Battery life (SOT)
- Front facing speakers
- Better earphones
- UI is not laggy
- Magnetic charging port
- Shutter button for camera
- Looks premium

Cons
- No removable Battery
- Very bad microphones
- Bad earspeaker
- Full resolution photo's not that impressive
- brightness level is lower then other high-end phones
- On screen buttons doesn't dissapear like in LG's (games etc)
- Front-facing camera
- Feels awkward holding
- THE FLAPS
- can't record 4K long because it gets to hot

That sums up my experience with both phones
Remember i didn't do anything! No root, stock launcher, no enhancements for more speed etc ALL JUST STOCK

i agree with most of your g3's pros and cons list, thanks to you i got to know some of the things i didn't know before because i only got to test the z2 for about 10minutes at the shop.
for the pros:
all are in agreement g3's loudspeaker is louder than z2's.
what i didn't know is for headphone output, g3 is higher. as seen here :
http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/LG..._id3727/page/3

for the cons:
not waterproof cos it wasn't labeled as such, but there's a youtube video showing it is waterproof. now we won't be going and dipping our g3's in water on purpose, it's just nice to know that there's a chance our phone would survive if we accidentally pour water on it.

bad looking ui, as i've read from impressions of other people who were able to try/use both phones i was surprised to see that they thought the same about me that z2 had the gingerbread feeling ui, cos i thought i was alone on this one.

for the camera, i had to do my research cos i wasn't able to test this one thus:
http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/LG..._id3727/page/3
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g3_vs_son...iew-1100p8.php
both that site had tested both phones and shown g3 gave better pictures.

for not being able to turn screen brightness to 100% when phone is already warm, i think it's sort of LG's way of prevention is better than cure. when phone reaches a certain temperature you can't set it to 100%. at least it does make sense.

for the rest of the pros and cons of g3 in your list we both agree.

for z2's all i can say is that is a lot of cons, add to that what i kept reading about z2 overheating.
but magnetic port, all i can say is wow that's nice to have aside from wireless charging. didn't know that. thank you.

I replaced the LG launcher with the Google one and (IMHO) it's much better. Smoother and faster, and seems to be all you need to do in order to make it a much nicer experience.

I really like my G3, but I do also prefer the Z2 camera (when it doesn't get too hot and not work!), being waterproof (very useful when we had near constant rain in the spring/early summer) and the magnetic charging port (and using it with the docks).

Of course, the G3 has wireless charging and that seems to work well - although it does quite often moan about repositioning the phone on the charging plate, and doesn't accept ANY position. Then try again later and it works fine?!

Ultimately, I bought my Z2 but was given the G3 by LG. If I hadn't got the Z2, I would have been very happy with the G3 but as I do have a Z2, I wouldn't (personally) change. It's different, but not sufficiently so. If you have a Z2, you can probably wait a while to change unless you're just mad on tech and have to have something new, in which case there's no point in having this thread as you'll upgrade anyway!!

Agree with must except the get hot part. The Z2 is hotter and gets hot faster than the G3.

On the hottest day of the year recently (UK) the time for the G3 to start warning about heat wasn't that far behind the Z2. But, yes, it's not as bad.

My G3 was in a case too.
