No those steps should suffice... With which app are you seeing those white emojis?

Using Hangouts the "missing" emojis were fixed here. Whatsapp was always fine. Don't use other apps myself where emojis are an issue...

Guys...Don't use the app. Do it manually, cause the app only renamed the existing fonts to fonts.old
After manually adding the fonts and rebooting, it now works like a charm on a I9300 with a ported G3 Keyboard (Mokee Open Source 4.4.4).
