Personally, I'd use an app that isn't a recovery to flash, but only because laf.img is the original recovery/download mode. Didn't bother to try through a custom recovery, so i can't say for certain. ( Better safe than sorry, you know?)
Just flash the laf and you can use the LG Flash Tool to update to Lollipop using the 20b kdz file. Then follow the information at to root again. Sent from my LG-D415 using XDA Free mobile ...
