I think you're overreacting. Get a new charger, and charge through USB or whatever for now. If you're super paranoid, then flash a fresh ROM with data wiped and your battery should be pretty good..

I use GrooveIP when I'm home on wifi. I tried it a few times on 3g/hspa+ and it didn't fare too well. I'll try it again with the Nexus 4's improved download speeds and see if it makes a difference.
