For those who have updated to 4.4.2 and needs root, towelroot works, and it preserves the Knox flag at 0x0.

Some OTAs are stopping the ability to get root with tw. Yup, looks like the exploit has been patched as of 3rd June 2014. If you got an OTA updated later than 3rd June, the root no longer works.
