I'm on Xt1045 and followed the directions above but can't be rooted.

Here's what I've done:
Already Unlocked via the motorola site
Got Clock Work Recovery on there, and selected the root option when using the command prompt using the latest version of easy recovery toolkit

Received this message:

Pushing Recovery Script

cannot stat 'Files/root/superuser.zip': No such file or directory
3 KB/s (46 bytes in 0.014s)

Running automated recovery commands

Choose yes and enjoy root
Press any key to continue . . .

My phone says this:
E:unknown volume for path [/storage/sdcard0/supersu.zip]
Can't mount /storage/sdcard0/supersu.zip
Installation aborted

I decided to rename the supersu file to superuser and re-ran the toolkit again....
I received this message:

Pushing Recovery Script

6063 KB/s (1260473 bytes in 0.203s)
14 KB/s (46 bytes in 0.003s)

Running automated recovery commands

Choose yes and enjoy root
Press any key to continue . . .

My phone says this[again] though:
E:unknown volume for path [/storage/sdcard0/supersu.zip]
Can't mount /storage/sdcard0/supersu.zip
Installation aborted

What is my issue ? I think there might be some bug in the toolkit if I can remove the error from the toolkit script, but not on my phone.....

I assume you have no problems booting the phone and have access to the sd card

Anyway you can try two things

1 - Flash the root zip in cwm with system mounted

2 - Use the CF-Auto-Root I posted in the Dev section

Thanks a lot for this tool! Finally I was able to install CWM on my new Moto G LTE (GB retail version). I don't know why but any attempt following the official guidelines for CWM or TWRP failed with "mismatched partition size" error and whenever I tried to boot into recovery it failed with black screen (sometimes blinking a little for CWM) or I was unable to swipe to unlock the screen in TWRP...

This tool also led to "mismatched partition size" but suprisingly I was able to boot into CWM and it seems to be working as well as root. I'm really happy now since I can start testing various custom ROMs as I was used to with my old Samsung Galaxy S2 (installing CWM on Samsung phones is pretty easier compared to Moto...).

So, recommended for those of you who are having new Moto G LTE with KK 4.4.4 (KXB21.14-L1.56-1) from factory and encountering issues when installing CWM or TWRP via command line...
