Mods, please close this thread. The information, while functioning is outdated and better alternatives have been created.

Well, thanks for the answers.

I just finished the unlock process through Motorola website, it worked nicely.

I have a 8GB XT1040 (4G south american).

Can you guys recommend wich recovery is best, and maybe a ROM?

Thanks for yous help!

I'm using TWRP as my recovery (from this thread), and I'm staying with the stock ROM but am using Xposed, which adds a bunch of features to the phone (highly recommend the GravityBox module).

Me too! The Moto G version of kitkat has been modified to allow moving some things to the sdcard. Xposed and gravitybox allow for adding all the features you usually get from a cyanogenmod rom while still using the stock rom. The last time I looked, the cyanogenmod roms still had some issues on the moto 4G - make sure you read the notes carefully before you take the plunge.

Good to hear as I'm expecting my Moto G 4G today and was having a bit of a headache with the instructions in the first message here! Had a quick look for easier methods but haven't found much, do you have a link handy? Thanks!

I can not click on "swipe to unlock". Is is possible to remove "swipe to unlock" from TWRP?

There is a known good, all functions v2.7.1.0-peregrine..here is a shot of one of my devices on the version..internal slot, OTG all functions working perfectly..I have NOT tested the current OP version, but I have tested the OP file with the same file name..and some functions where not available, but maybe since I tested, the OP file is OK..I have a 100% known good v2.7.1.0-peregrine, but will not post link here, due respect to the OP..

As far as I am aware, the Cricket variant XT1045 is unable to have an unlocked bootloader. Since Towelroot also fails to work, it doesn't look like there's any root methods for those devices at this time.
