OK, got it!
Switching to ART was the only way I could clear my cache w/o resetting. After my phone finished booting, I let it set for about 5 minutes, then, all of a sudden about 15 SMS came through. After I thought about it, I had not received any SMS since I updated. Now everything has settled down and NO wake lock, yay!
It is like my phone new there were messages to be received, I just wasn't getting them.
Thank you for your guys help!

I'll follow up with one last question, has anyone seen a benefit of using ART or Dalvik? Nothing is sticking out to me.

Looks like your screen was on most of the time. So this is normal behavior. What's your screen-on time?

I'm a huge advocate of ART. I've noticed increased battery life by at least an hour SOT and I find the phone to run faster and smoother. I however am not on 4.4.4 yet, still on 4.4.3 and below ART is the way to go.

Even though this phone has unusually high wake locks, the battery life is absolutely amazing! I've managed to go 2 and a half days on a single charge with mixed use and SOT of just over 2 hours.

Been using the Moto X for a year now and battery comfortably can get me through a day no problem with wifi/gps/bluetooth on.

Yesterday I flashed Krypton ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto...-2014-t2716657) 4.4.3 and believe or not, I got 1% of drain overnight (my "overnight" lasts for about 6 hours), the rest of the day I drained it quickly because I made a extreme heavy use of it with music, installing and uninstalling apps, maps, waze, setting my launcher right, facebook, downloading, whatsapping and changing to art, but still got 14h with 3h 30min SOT. I saw some users saying that Krypton is giving them really super battery life and just for 1% drop in 6 hours, I guess it's true, I'm going to charge it completely and see it goes and post some feedback later.

Anyone else experiencing the high Android OS usage? My battery life was good, now it's this which isn't super horrible but I barely have SOT
