Default Downgrade to 4.2.2 and keep data / WhatsApp screwed / WhatsApp ART problem -24 error

Hi. I screwed my WhatsApp after I tried ART and tried reinstalling the app, as it didn't work. Now I can't reinstall it and neither use it by any ways.
The reason I want to downgrade is that I can root and then update to 4.4 again, and fix the error.

Is there any way to so and keep data and apps? I tried fastbooting back to it but it keeps on a bootloop.

This is from WhatsApp FAQ:
Quote:
If you attempted to re-install WhatsApp in ART, your /data/data/ directory may have a latent com.whatsapp folder left behind from the failed install that will prevent you from installing WhatsApp again. Android does not have any UI exposed to resolve this issue. Currently the only known way to remove this file is to either delete the file (only possible if your phone is rooted), or to reset your device to factory defaults.

Its not possible to go from 4.4 to. 4.2.2 without deleting user data.

Sent from my XT1058 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I found a way out. Here is what I did just in case anybody have the same problem:

1. Backup user data via adb: adb backup -f backup.ab -apk -shared -all -system

2. Wipe data/factory reset.

3. Downgrade to 4.2.2 camera update.

You can apply root using SlapMyMoto here if you want (if you intend to upgrade to 4.4 that is).

4. Upgrade to 4.4 using OTA/OTA file once again.

5. Restore data using adb: adb restore backup.ab

I did this because I also wanted to root. If you just want to fix WhatsApp then you may take only the steps 1, 2 and 5.

This worked out well for you? No issues or bugs?

Nope. But you might want to unninstall / install it while on 4.2.2 just to make sure.
