I have a Moto X on Verizon currently running 4.4.2. Can I go back to a stock ROM so that I can root my device and load up a custom ROM?
Any and all help is much appreciated!

DO NOT DO IT! Just search this forum, downgrading causes bricks, and most likely you will end up with a phone that doesn't work at all.

A temp root is available now. It is somewhat limited, but still useful. See towelpieroot in the themes and apps subforum.

No custom rom ability, but can run most root apps.
