Sweet. Confirmed this works on Sprint Moto X 4.4.2 when following the build.prop edit.

Thanks OP!

You never said if you actually enabled the module. I'm assuming you did.

Did you have any previous modifications done? Maybe they changed something in 4.4.3 from 4.4.2 that prevents it from working. Once 4.4.4 rolls out to everyone I'll update this if need be.

Hey...thanks for the reply. Yes, I did enable the module. No, no previous modifications to stock except unlocked, root and SU. I appreciate your time and efforts.

Thanks...but that didn't work for me either. I'm still stuck at "Turning on hotspot....". Reading through the discussion, I have a GSM DE phone on AT&T, I didn't root with PIE and I'm on 4.4.3. Any of the three could be the issue...or it could be something weird with my phone. I figured I'd wait until the 4.4.4 update comes through.

This seems odd that it's stuck at the "Turning on hotspot" phase. It should at least fail. Especially since you tried 2 methods that have both been proven successful on pretty much all of the Moto X updates starting from 4.4 (4.4, 4.4.2, 4.4.4).

Unless AT&T has changed how their hotspot entitlement works in 4.4.3+ I don't see any problems with anything you've done to your device. If its possible and not a pain I'd say flash back to 4.4.2 if you really need to tether. Then we can wait until 4.4.4 is out on AT&T and see if other users are having the same issues.

I visited with AT&T the other day and it may be AT&T. Their tech support staff isn't overly knowledgeable, but basically their explanation is I have a "non-AT&T phone" since it is a Dev Edition bought from Motorola which messes up provisioning on their network. Since USB tethering works, I'm just going to sit tight until 4.4.4 rolls out and see what happens but thanks so much for taking the time to respond.
